Admission to Wharton’s MBA program of University of Pennsylvania

Wharton’s MBA program of the University of Pennsylvania is consistently regarded as one of the finest in the world. Among 6,819 applicants only 817 students were enrolled in Class of 2012, so only started in good time preparation can ensure you MBA admission. As in most business schools, earlier rounds are less competitive and if your application takes place in the first round, you’ve got more chances to get in.

So look carefully through application deadlines and decision release dates for the Class of 2013:

  • MBA Program

Round 1 October 4, 2010 December 17, 2010
Round 2 January 4, 2011 March 24, 2011
Round 3 March 3, 2011 May 12, 2011

  • MBA/MA–Lauder

Round 1 October 4, 2010 December 17, 2010
Round 2 January 4, 2011 March 24, 2011

MBA admissions consultants note one feature in application essay writing: it’s quite easy, comparing with corresponding tasks in other top B-schools. If you’re going to apply to several business schools, Wharton will be a good starting point. You’re to write essays on 3 from 4 optional topics in 600 words each and MBA personal statement in 300 words. For successful MBA admission, you’re encouraged to be introspective, candid, and succinct. One of the useful warnings in essay writing is avoiding quotations from Robert Frost’s “The Road Not Taken” because it appears too often in MBA essays.

Look through these FAQs, because you can face with one of the following questions during Wharton application:

  • I already have an MBA. Can I apply to Wharton?

Candidates who have an MBA or any other graduate degree aren’t excluded. You should, however, fully explain your reasons for pursuing a second MBA in your application.

  • Can I get my decision over the Web, e-mail, telephone, or via fax?

All applicants receive their decision letter over the Web via their online account. Decisions over the telephone or via e-mail or fax aren’t realized. If admitted, you will receive additional information, along with a hard copy of your admissions letter, via regular mail.

  • I have less than your average of 4 years of work experience. Will this place me at a disadvantage in the admissions process?

The incoming class for Fall 2010 is 26% early career candidates. Wharton is more interested in the skills you have acquired to date, including leadership and management opportunities, than the number of years you have been in the work force. Not only the skills you have demonstrated to date are considered, but also your future potential.

A complete application includes the following components each of which is explained in greater detail in the application:
