Tuck School of Business Admission Process

One of the luxurious business schools in the USA attracts businessmen not only with its marvelous campus outside but also an individual approach to every student. Tuck MBA program is well known for fostering a close-knit community. This is not merely a feel-good exercise but a conscious strategy to build and refine the values of collaboration, support, respect, and stewardship.

To become a member of Tuck community, first of all, you need to send your application until:

Early Action round        10/13/10

November round           11/10/10

January round               1/3/11

April round                   4/1/11

On the one hand, Tuck MBA admission is relatively difficult, but on the other, it is often not the first choice of those Tuck admits. You can be certain that those reading your application know this. Under such conditions, clearly showing why Tuck is ideal for you is critical. Highlighting your ability for self-education and readiness to collaboration will be effective in assay writing. The task will be to write 4 (and the fifth is optional) assays in 500 words. MBA admissions consultant strongly suggests making a real effort to visit or at least to attend a reception. This will be a great way to meet with admissions officers in a very friendly environment.

If you’re interested in Tuck admission, there are 3 FAQs, which may be helpful:

  • Do I have to have a business background to apply to Tuck?

No. Tuck seeks qualified applicants from all backgrounds, including those who do not have traditional business experience. If you do not have previous exposure to quantitative concepts, you’d better take classes in the following areas to help prepare for the rigors of Tuck’s curriculum: microeconomics, financial accounting, statistics, finance, and Excel.

  • How many recommendations may I submit?

You must submit two Confidential Statements of Qualifications (CSQ) forms. Only if an additional evaluation will add substantial value to your application should you submit more than two. Re-applicants who applied between September and April or the previous year need to submit only one new CSQ.

  • What questions will I be asked during my interview?

You will be asked questions that will help an interviewer assess your leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.

The Tuck Application is comprised of:

  • applicant essays,
  • all previous academic transcripts (self-reported),
  • confidential statements of qualifications (CSQs),
  • a self-reported GMAT or GRE
  • If applicable the TOEFL or PTE gauging proficiency in English may be required.

There are also some notes on admission process:

  • An applicant initiated interview while not required is strongly encouraged.
  • If you attended institutions other than those from which your degrees were granted, you will be required to scan and upload your academic transcripts from each institution (transfer coursework, domestic or study-abroad programs, post-graduate non-degree coursework, etc.). You will be required to scan and upload a copy of the academic transcript issued by the institution(s) from which you obtained your undergraduate (bachelor’s or first) degree and any advanced/graduate degrees.
